The Closed Treatment of Common Fractures
An important classic of twentieth-century orthopaedic surgery by pioneering British surgeon John Charnley. First published in 1950, the work sets out the principles and practical methods of conservative, non-operative fracture treatment, including reduction, immobilisation, plaster technique and the management of common fractures. The book became a core reference in orthopaedics, combining practical fracture management with Charnley's consideration of the mechanics of treatment and fracture healing. Cambridge University Press describes it as one of the most concise and complete works on closed fracture treatment and notes that its fundamental principles continued to retain relevance many decades after its original publication.
